Engraved brass Locomotive Builders Plate “London North Eastern Railway Co. No. 1862 Doncaster 1937”. As carried by the ‘A4’ Class 4-6-2 No. 4497 / 60031 “Golden Plover”. The plate is in fine condition retaining BR green paint to the rim and “31” stamping in the back. The loco was a Haymarket resident for almost 25 years and with a corridor tender often used on the crack non-stop East Coast Main Line Expresses. Its final 3 years were based at St. Rollox followed by withdrawal in Nov. 1965. It was cut up by Campbell’s, Airdrie. | SOLD FOR £7200 |
