Oval engraved brass Locomotive Builders Plate “(London North Eastern Railway Co.) No. 1709 Doncaster 1929”. The engraving within the brackets is filled in. As carried by the ‘A3’ Class Pacific No. 2751 / 60097 named “Humorist” after the winning racehorse of the 1921 Derby. In the 1930’s the loco was selected for several smokebox alterations in connection with smoke discharge from the chimney. It was finally fitted with ‘A1’ style smoke deflectors, the only A3 so treated. The worksplate is clearly stamped “2751” and “97” and has damage to the bolt holes. It was w/d from St. Margaret’s in Aug. 1963 and cut up at Doncaster. | n/s |
