Cast brass Locomotive Nameplate “The Burton” as carried by the LNER D49 Class 4-4-0 built at Darlington in 1934. The loco was numbered LNER 238 & 2757, BR 62757 and retains its original smooth haired fox stamped in the back “L238”. This number is also on the nameplate behind the fox. A Hull Botanic Gardens engine in the BR period, it was w/d from there in Dec. 1957 and cut up at Darlington. The nameplate is face restored only. 33.25in long. The Burton Hunt operated in the Gainsborough and Market Rasen area. | n/s |
