Cast iron Locomotive Smokebox Number Plate “31906” as carried by the Southern Railway U1 Class 2-6-0 built at Eastleigh in 1931 and in BR days allocated to Stewarts Lane, Tonbridge, Nine Elms and Norwood Junction. It was w/d from the latter in Dec. 1962 and cut up at Eastleigh. The loco had a claim to fame when during March 1954 it was one of two U1’s trialled over the Somerset & Dorset Line working between Bath and Bournemouth. Photographs of it appear in Ivo Peters S&D books. The smokebox plate is in v.g.c. and in ex-loco paintwork. | SOLD FOR £850 |

As carried by the 0-6-0ST. new to Henry Stobart & Co. Etherley, Bishop Auckland. To Thorne Colliery, Doncaster in 1931, taken over by the NCB in Jan 1947.
