301 Great North of Scotland Railway Look-Out Man’s small brass Warning Horn. Nicely marked “G.N.S.R” and in working order. 6in. long. SOLD FOR

302 West Riding & Grimsby Railway General Purpose Handlamp (GNR pattern). Plated “WR & GR” on top handle, “Bulpitt & Sons 1914” and steel Plated “Nostell” to the base. Complete with “GNR” vessel, all fittings and glasses. Unrestored. SOLD FOR

303 A Fireman’s Shovel of special significance. It is stamped “E&W Lucas BR(E) 1960” and is in v.g.c. 44in. long. The shovel was acquired by our vendor (a fireman himself) in 1980 and has been used on firing turns on a number of preserved locomotives such as “City of Truro”, “Britannia”, “Tornado”, “Furness No. 20”, “Duke of Gloucester”, “King Edward I” and many others. Quite a history for a humble item. SOLD FOR

306 Locomotive Smokebox Numberplate “64352” as carried by the GCR 9J Class later J11 0-6-0 built by Beyer Peacock & Co. in 1904. A Mexborough, Tuxford and Langwith Junction loco in BR days it was w/d Aug. 1961 to be cut up at Gorton. SOLD FOR

309 Oval cast brass Locomotive Builders Plate “R&W Hawthorn Leslie & Co. Ltd. Engineers Newcastle on Tyne England. 3780 1932”. As carried by the 0-4-0ST at the Holwell Iron Co. Asfordby, Leices. Named “Holwell No. 30”. A fine plate 13x8in. Lightly face polished only and retaining its ex-loco paintwork. SOLD FOR

313 LNER cast iron ‘9×5’ Locomotive Works Numberplate “London & North Eastern Railway 1334 1947”. As carried by the LNER B1 Class 4-6-0 built by North British Loco Co. (Wks. 26235). A Cambridge, Darnall and Canklow engine w/d Dec. 1963 and cut up by Rigleys, Bulwell Forest. The plate is face restored only with a clean weld repair to the right end. SOLD FOR

314 LNER 4 aspect Handlamp by “Wyncott & Sons Ltd Birmingham”. Body bears their makers plate and is stamped “2878 S Fog Signalmen Woodburn”. A scarce location in the wilds of Northumberland between Scotsgap and Reedsmouth. An unusual lamp complete except red glass missing and totally unrestored. SOLD FOR

321 Midland Railway 10in. drop cased Wall Clock with ornately carved ears and lenticle surround. The repainted 24 hour dial is lettered “BR 15233”. The fusee movement is held between ornately shaped plates spaced via turned pillars. A superb timepiece ex- Lincoln St Marks Station in lovely condition complete and in working order with pendulum and key. n/s

327 Oval engraved brass Locomotive Builders Plate “Great Northern Railway Co. Makers Doncaster No. 1351 1912. As carried by the J2 Class 0-6-0 No. 3071 / 5015 / 65015. A Colwick regular engine it was finally withdrawn from Leicester (GN) Dec. 1953 and cut up at Doncaster. 12.25×7.4in. Back stamped “3071”. A class of only ten engines. SOLD FOR

333 LMS Signal Box Board “Quintinshill” with applied cast iron letters. Fine ex-box condition 75x10in. Outside this box in 1915 occured the worst accident on Britain’s Railways. This is not the original box board dating to that time, but a later LMS replacement. Still a very historic item. (See next lot). SOLD FOR
