LNER oval cast brass Locomotive ‘9×5’ Works Numberplate “London & North Eastern Railway Darlington Works 1928” with its original number “307” ground down but clear. As carried by the D49 Class 4-4-0 “Kincardineshire”, later BR No. 62716. W/d from St. Margarets May 1961 and cut up at Darlington. The cast brass overstrip “62718” is ex-”Kinross-shire” also w/d from St. Margarets in May 1961 and cut up at Darlington at the same time. It may be that these plates had been transposed after scrapping. Two D49’s for the price of one! |
