1 Cast brass ‘A4’ Class Regulator Plate ex-4499 / 60002 “Pochard” / “Sir Murrough Wilson”. “Coasting cut-off. When the regulator is closed at speeds exceeding 25 mph the gear must be put at 25% cut-off.” “2” is stamped in all four corners. The loco was built at Doncaster in 1938 (Wks. No. 1872) and was withdrawn May 1964 and cut up at Cargo Fleet. A scarce survivor. 13 LNER ‘Coronation’ ware silver plated half pint Teapot by Walker & Hall. v.g.c.
2 GNR Station Gas Lamp Lighter. Comprises the handle stamped “GNR” and plated “Great Northern Railway Company Nottingham High Level 2” and a copper tube wick holder. The two sections unscrew to facilitate the paraffin soaking of the wick. 477mm. long. Nottingham London Road High Level station closed in July 1967. 14 Cast iron Locomotive Shedplate “5E” (Alsager then Nuneaton). Face restored only.
3 Enamel Advertising Sign “Sutton-on-Sea Belle Vue Boarding House Home Comforts Excellent Cuisine Moderate Terms (Misses Rainey & Jones)”. Some edge corrosion and slight discolouration in places. In a wooden frame 24.5x12.5in. overall. 15 Oval cast brass ‘9x5’ Locomotive Works Number Plate “London & North Eastern Railway 9618 (Re)Built Stratford Works 1924”. As carried by N7 Class 0-6-2T 69618. The letters “Re” chiselled off in service. Face restored only. Loco was w/d 9/61 and cut up at Stratford Works.
4 GWR 1947 pattern wooden cased Block Instrument with “Down Line” & “Up Line” needle dials. Complete with “Clearing Point Fouled / Train at Signal” flaps. 16 GNR Drinking Glass with a facetted stem and pedestal foot. Nicely face etched with the company initials. v.g.c. 5.7in. tall.
5 Oval cast iron Locomotive Builders Plate “Built 1949 Horwich”, as carried by (LMS) Ivatt Class 4 2-6-0 loco no. 43039. A Leeds Holbeck Loco all its life it was withdrawn Dec. 1966 and cut up by Wards of Killamarsh in March 1967. Not the best Horwich casting face painted only. 10.5x6in. 17 GWR official Jigsaw Puzzle “St. Julien”. This is the scarce version of this puzzle showing the company’s steamship in large profile. Complete and v.g.c. The beige box is fair.
6 Carriage Print “Cley near Holt, Norfolk” by R.E. Jordan. A view of the well known windmill from the ‘LNER’ 1948-55 Series. Two small restored puncture holes to left edge otherwise v.g.c. In an original glazed frame. 18 BR(E) flangeless enamel station Doorplate “Left Luggage”. Couple of tiny edge chips only otherwise v.g.c.
7 North Eastern Rly enamel Station Doorplate “Station Master”. Edge chipping only. Very good colour and shine. 19 Cast iron Locomotive Smokebox Numberplate “78032” as carried by the BR Standard Class ‘2’ 2-6-0 loco built in 1953. Allocations include Chester and Bangor. Withdrawn 9/65 and cut up by Cashmores of Great Bridge in 1/66. The smokebox is restored and was acquired by our vendor 40 years ago.
8 LNER cast iron Doorplate “Shunters”. Face restored only. 20 “LNWR 810” cast iron Crane Numberplate. Face restored only. 7.2x4in.
9 GNR small 3 aspect Handlamp with fogging glasses. Top date stamped for May 1913 (the year the line opened). Top & body stamped “GNR 18297”. A fine brass plate to body “Great Northern Railway Company Tumby Woodside 3”. Complete with integral vessel, burner, reflector and all glasses. Superb order throughout. 21 GNR Office Ink Stamp. The brass head incised “Great Northern Railway Goods Department Cashier’s Office Kings Cross”, on a turned wooden handle. v.g.c. and superb.
10 Wrexham Mold & Connahs Quay Railway” original garter title Transfer nicely mounted onto a painted wooden panel. v.g.c. 10.7x10in. 22 BR Office Ink Stamp. The brass head incised “E.R. Southwell” on a turned wooden handle. v.g.c. A former MR & LMS station west of Newark transferred to the Eastern Region in the 1950’s. It closed in June 1959.
11 Great North of Scotland Rly. Guards brass Thunderer Whistle by S. Auld, Glasgow. Both sides nicely impressed “G.N.S.R”. v.g.c. 23 Pair of BR(M) LMS pattern Locomotive Headlamps complete with original vessels and burners and bullseye lenses set in copper bezels. Unrestored.
12 BR(ER) double royal pictorial Poster “Nottinghamshire” by Frank Newbould. A fine image of Sherwood Forest dominated by the figure of Robin Hood. v.g.c. with no folds. 24 “GN & LNW Joint” cast iron Boundary Post from the line running south from Bottesford North Jct. Unrestored. 35in. tall.
