172 Cast brass Locomotive Nameplate “Palestine” as carried by LMS ‘Jubilee’ Class 4-6-0 No. 5623 built at Crewe 19/10/1934 Works No. 184 Lot 112. Named 23/12/1936 and renumbered 45623 in June 1948. The loco was shedded at Leeds, Crewe North & South, Longsight, several periods at Edge Hill and finally Newton Heath. Withdrawal came in Aug. 1964 with a lifetime 1,280,234 miles. It was cut up at Central Wagon Co. Ince. The nameplate is in fine condition face restored and lightly polished only. The back exhibits one punch mark to denote that this is the left hand side nameplate. 732mm. long. (29in). 184 Rectangular cast iron Stores Plate “Non common spares from Horwich”. Face restored a while ago. 241x78. (9.5x3in).
173 LNER cast iron Platform Seat Nameplate “Willoughby”. Very good ex-seat condition 912mm. long (36in). A former East Lincs Line station, junction for the Mablethorpe branch and closed in Oct. 1970. 185 2 brass Signal Box Lever Description Plates: A cast North Eastern Rly example “1 Up Distant Signal” and an engraved Highland Rly example “33 Starting From Road No. 1”. Both v.g.c. with original infill to lettering. (2)
174 Oval cast brass Locomotive Builders Plate “Andrew Barclay Sons & Co. Limited Caledonia Works Kilmarnock. No. 1918. 1927”. As carried by LMS 4F Class 0-6-0 Loco No. 4374 (BR No. 44374). Its final shed was 5D (Stoke) before moving to Crewe as a Works Shunter for the last 5 years of its life. One can only speculate on the wonderful locos it moved around the works complex until withdrawal for cutting up in May 1963. These small Barclay plates are difficult to find and this one is in fine condition lightly face restored only. 240x177mm. (9.5x7in). 186 Cast iron shield shaped Bridge Buiders Plate “Joseph Westwood & Co. Limited Engineers & Contractors London 1892”. An attractive plate in unrestored condition. 468x355mm. (18.4x14in).
175 Brecon & Merthyr Railway large 25mm. initials and locomotive nickel Button. (F23/15). v.g.c. 187 2 cast iron ‘Sleeper’ Plates: Oval “BR Maintenance Ends” and rectangular “BR Agreement”. Both face restored only. (2)
176 M&GNJR Buttons. “Mid & GN” 3 line script nickel (F44/10) large and small examples; “Mid & GN” one line script nickel (F44/11) large and small examples; “Mid & GN” one line script brass (F44/11) large and small examples. All v.g.c. (6) 188 Rolled linen Gradient Diagrams as displayed in signal boxes:- “Littleport to Ely North Jcn. and Chesterton Jcn”; “March North Jcn. to Magdalen Road Jcn.”; “Kings Lynn to Hilgay”. All v.g.c. & rolled only (3).
177 LNWR mahogany cased Appletons Signal Box Block Instrument for double line working. Complete with underslung bell. Lacks glass front panel otherwise good ex-box condition. 189 Set of three original GWR cast iron Milepost Fractions “1/4, 1/2 & 3/4” all on their integral tubular posts with base feet. Each is 1585mm. tall (62.4in) and restored a while ago. These are scarce as many were replaced in service. (3).
178 BR(W) brown enamel and nickel “Porter” totem Cap Badge by Gaunt. v.g.c. 190 BR(M) maroon enamel and gilt “Inspector” Lion over Wheel Cap Badge in v.g.c.
179 North Eastern Railway oval cast iron Bridge Numberplate “261”. Face restored only. 191 GCR mahogany split cased Signal Box Block Bell with large brass mushroom bell and offset tapper. Original ivorine label “Holton” to face. A location between Barnetby and Market Rasen. v.g.c. and a nice ‘sounder’.
180 Great Central Rly. nickel script “GCR” Cap Badge in v.g.c. 192 Pair of LNWR silver plated long handled Sugar Tongs by Walker & Hall. Nicely top marked “L&NWR”. v.g.c.
181 Oval cast iron Locomotive Tender Plate “GWR 2751 4000 Gallons Swindon” face restored 213x154mm. (8.4x6in). As fitted to a tender allocated to a King, Castle, County, Star, Hall or 4700 Class Loco. 193 LNER fully titled cast iron Trespass Notice from Grantham. Face restored only in primer a while ago.
182 Pair of North Eastern Rly. brass Hub Caps each nicely incised “NER”. Smaller than those usually offered so perhaps from a hand cart. 194 Brass Air Horn from a BR ICO-C01 Type 4 (later Class 45) Diesel Electric Loco. introduced in 1959. A nice old horn with plenty of service bruises and polished.
183 Cast iron Locomotive Shedplate “36A” (Doncaster). Face restored only.
