45 As Previous Lot “Map of London and its Environs”. Another fine map. The inside stamped “General Manager’s Office M&CR Maryport 6th July 1921”. Good condition. 57 “M&GN” cast brass Signal Box Step Nosing. 603mm. long. (23.75in) and unrestored.
46 Miniature cast brass GWR model locomotive Nameplate “Great Western Castle Class”. Face painted. 422mm. (16.6in) overall so basically a quarter full size. 58 Two “S.M.J. Rly Peterboro’ (LNW)” and “Peterborough (L&NW)” Luggage Labels. Both headed “Shakespeare Route”. Note variations. v.g.c. (2).
47 Two “Nigerian Railway Corporation” enamel and brass totem style Cap Badges. “Senior Station Master” & “Station Master” v.g.c. (2). 59 F.R. Luggage Labels “To Askam, To Willesden Junction L&NW, To Edge Hill, L’Pool L&NW” (All titled “From the Furness Railway) together with “To Haverthwaite” (titled “From the Furness Railways”) small edge loss. (4)
48 London Electric Railway large 24mm. black horn Button. “LER” script initials. (F38/4). 60 LMS small size sepia Photographic Carriage Panel “Calder Abbey” (Cumbria). A fine 1930’s image in good cond. and in an original type glazed frame.
49 Waterloo & City Railway large 22.5mm brass Button bearing the arms of London. The W&CR opened in July 1898 and was absorbed into the LSWR in Jan. 1907. This is a very rare button not photographed in Froggatt or the supplement. It is described on P.53 of the main book. 61 Official LNWR handscript Inventory Sheets listing and detailing weighing machines and weigh bridges the property of the LNWR Loco Depts. at Rugby, Leamington, Coventry, Nuneaton and Warwick on 1st. June 1888. Five sheets in all with interesting content.
50 Key head engraved “Appleby Box - Warcop”. Both stations closing in Jan. 1962. 62 Cheshire Lines Committee Signal Box Hanging Lamp. The vessel is stamped “CLC” and bears a large brass plate embossed “Cheshire Lines” and stamped “Skelton Junc. Shunters Cabin”. A location between Stockport and Timperley. Complete with brass burner, filler cap, glass chimney and integral hanging hoop.
51 Key head engraved “Clifton Moor - Kirkby Thore”. Stations closing in Jan 1962 and Dec. 1953 respectively. 63 Southern Electric silver plated Sauce Ladle by Gladwin, Sheffield Embassy Plate. Nicely top marked with the electric flash and “SR” initials. v.g.c.
52 Key head engraved “Kby Stephen W - Ravenstonedale”. The latter station closing in Dec. 1952. 64 Two Booklets issued by H.M.SO. titled “British Railways Board the reshaping of British Railways”. (The official Beeching Report). Part 1 148pp. 1963 covers the actual report and details all station and lines proposed for closure and part 2 contains all twelve maps to accompany the report. Still makes fascinating reading even now.
53 Midland Railway silver plated Sugar Scoop. Nicely top marked “MR” in intertwined script. The handle displaying an embossed sea shell device. Minor plate wear only. 65 Oval cast aluminium Safe Makers Plate “Samuel Withers & Co. Ltd. West Bromwich” with lion & crown trade mark to centre. Ex-Smallford station office on the former GNR Hatfield to St. Albans Abbey branch line. (closed Oct. 1951). v.g.c. 122x88mm. (4.8x3.5in).
54 Cast iron Locomotive Shedplate “87G” (Carmarthen). Unrestored. An interesting shed which had several ‘Manors’ on its books, together with ‘Halls’, ‘Granges’ and a number of ‘70XX’ Castles. 66 Original cast aluminium Road Sign “Low Bridge Headroom” with applied plate “14’-0” and bridge symbol. Small losses to top and bottom but complete with all reflective beads. Unrestored.
55 Original LNWR coat of arms Transfer as applied to locomotive splashers. Very nicely mounted and presented in a glazed wood frame with card slip mount. 408x408mm. overall (16x16in). 67 Oval cast iron Locomotive Builders Plate “Built 1956 Darlington” Face painted only. 266x150mm. (10.5x6in). From a Class ‘08’ Diesel Shunter.
56 Oval pressed metal Armband “Licensed Porter Nottingham 23”. No straps but rather nice. 108x78mm. (4.25x3in).
