219 Original BR Drawings as produced for Class 7 4-6-2 Locomotives (‘Britannias’). Three drawings in total all titled “British Railways Locomotive Drawing Office Derby” and dated 1951. 1) General arrangement loco elevation and plan. 2) General arrangement tender elevation and plan. Both drawn 1/8 full size. 3) Motion arrangement drawn 1/4 full size. These are large drawings with much detail in mainly very good condition. Some end tears and minor losses. (3) 228 North Eastern Railway Paraffin Pourer. The top clearly stamped “NER Co” and with embossed oval brass “NER” plate. Very good condition and complete with turned brass filler cap with finger turn. Devoid of paint and with fine patina. 245mm. tall o/all (9.6in)
220 Carriage Print Frames: Four original LNER / BRE size; one original type LNER / BRE size; two original LMS size. All are complete with glass, two require backing boards and clips to retain. Useful lot. (7) 229 Rly Executive (LMR) double royal pictoial Poster “Civic Centres Derby”. Fine artwork of the classical facade by Claude Buckle above descriptive text on the attributes of the city. Minor edge nicks and light folds only.
221 Midland Rly. mahogany cased Signal Box Block Instrument with pegging handle. Clearly marked “MR Co” on the front and three times on the roof. A nice instrument in v.g.c. retaining a LMS test label for 1924 inside. 230 Steel Carriage Keys: “Midland Railway” ring handle type; “BR(W)” multi - function ‘T’ shaped; “ISR” ‘T’ shape (Indian Southern Rly.) All are in very good condition. (3)
222 BR(NE) double sided painted wooden Train Destination Board lettered “Stockton Grantham (both overpainted) & Kings Cross”. One face has been stripped and is poorish, the other face (photographed) is partially stripped to show the ‘G’ of Grantham. “Kings Cross” is very good both sides. Some damage along top edge of wood. Metal edge with two handles. 835x470mm. (32.8x18.5in). 231 Locomotive Builders Plate “The English Electric Company Ltd. London No. 3097 / D647. 1961 The Vulcan Foundry Ltd. Locomotive Works, England”. As carried by BR ICO - CO1 2000 hp Type 4 DE Loco No. D351, later Class 40 No. 40151. Withdrawn Feb 1981 and cut up at Swindon Works Sept. 1982. Very good condition retaining most original chrome plating and residue of rail blue paint to face. 257x113mm. (10x4.5in).
223 Cast iron Wagon Plate “Chas. Roberts & Co. Ltd. Builders Wakefield 1926”. Face restored only. A nice early plate (small size) 273x132mm. (10.75x5.2in). 232 L&NER fully titled cast iron Notice “The public must not cross the line on the level but by the subway by order”. Casting code “0.27”. An uncommon sign in very good unrestored condition.
224 Unmarked 3 aspect small sized Handlamp of good quality manufacture. Complete with vessel, burner, reflector and all glasses. The vessel mounting is loose otherwise very good ex-service condition. 233 Carriage Print “Archbishops Palace, Bishopthorpe, York” by S. Agnew Mercer from the 1954 series. One of only two prints by this artist. Fox spots to margins. In an original LNER brown Crommoid glazed frame. See also lot 20.
225 L&YR Misc. Labels: Most are full title including four Charges Paid labels from Bradford, Sowerby Bridge, Miles Platting and Manchester (Vic); Paid Parcel from Huddersfield; To Pay Parcel from Castleton; Carted Luggage Label; Passenger Lost Luggage Label Victoria to Lees; Plus three other different labels. Nice selection. Condition varies. (11). 234 Two LNER brass Tags stamped “4040 Pathe Cinema Car” and “4041 Cinema Car” with three and two original keys attached respectively. In 1935 the LNER converted a standard bogie brake coach into a 44 seat cinema coach complete with sloping floor. This was the ‘Pathe Cinema Car’ and worked between Kings Cross and Leeds. A second similar vehicle was converted a year later for use between Leeds and Glasgow. Both vehicles were converted back to their original use late 1939.
226 Oval cast iron Wagon Plate “The Steetley Lime & Basic Co. Ltd. Owners Worksop Notts No. 545”. Unrestored and a tad weathered but face restoration would certainly enhance. 330x200mm. (13x8in). 235 Curved brass Plate stamped “B. Robinson Old Leake”. Rectangular with rounded ends. 65x15mm. Possibly a personalised plate from a hand lamp. Old Leake was a former GNR station between Boston and Firsby.
227 Cast iron Locomotive Shedplate “61C” (Keith). Face restored only & uncommon.
