86 GNR cast iron ornate Air Brick. “GNR B44” Clearly embossed across the face. Very decorative and scarce. 340x238x67mm. (13.3x9.3x2.6in). 99 “The Midland Grand Hotel” circular silver plated Platter by Elkington with a decorative sylised oak leaf rim design. The title nicely top marked using gothic capital letters opposite the company’s wyvern device. Good condition. 307mm. dia. (12in). This magnificent hotel designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott in the gothic style opened in May 1873. It closed in April 1935 and used as offices by BR until Aug. 1985. Now undergoing refurbishment.
87 Carriage Print “Bourton on the Water, Gloucestershire” by Clauge Buckle. From the WR 1954 series. v.g.c. and in an original type glazed frame. 100 “British Railways” BR(E) dark blue enamel & brass totem Cap Badge in v.g.c. Complete with rear sliding pin.
88 GNR corrugated steel Home Signal Arm from a somersault signal. v.g.c. 1470mm. (58in) long. 101 South African Railways nickel Cap Badge with the “SAR / SAS” intertwined device within a belted garter together with a South African Railways Police Whistle bearing the same monogram on an applied mount. v.g.c. (2).
89 BR(W) aluminium Single Line Key. The head engraved “Gobowen South - Oswestry North”. A branch of former GWR heading down to the Cambrian headquarters. v.g.c. with remains of original red paint. 102 LNER silver plated one pint Coffee Pot by Walker & Hall. Nicely face marked with the “LNER” script initials. v.g.c.
90 L&YR fully titled large Luggage Label “Luggage in advance from ____ to Llandudno via Liverpool & North Wales S.S. Co.” v.g.c. & scarce. Print code “M479”. 138x88mm. (5.4x3.5in). 103 Scotrail double royal pictorial Poster “The Highland Lines Loch Shiel” with artwork by Brendan Neiland R.A. This is the second of six such posters in this auction. v.g.c. Rolled only and complete with information sheet on the artist.
91 Two GWR official Publications: “Cardigan Bay Resorts Aberystwyth to Pwllheli” 48pp. and “The Cader Country how to explore it” 50pp. 1929. Both complete with folding maps and uncommon. The latter, the staples have come adrift of the covers. (2). 104 Small “LMS” Handbell with turned wooden handle. “LMS” incised into the top of the bell in typical style. A nice example in v.g.c. complete with clapper. 250mm. tall (9.8in).
92 LNER cast iron Saucepan. The body embossed “LNER” and “No. 5 Swan 4 Pints”. Very good ex-service condition. 105 Platform Tickets: “LNER Leeds (Central)”; “LNER York”; “LNER Harrogate”; “LMSR Sheffield”; “LNE & LMS Rlys. Leeds (City)”. All v.g.c. (5)
93 Rectangular metal Plate with clipped corners embossed “LMS Gas Meter No. 5 / 175”. 59x32mm. 106 Enamel Advertising Sign (double sided) “Royal Daylight Lamp Oil Anglo American Oil Co. Ltd. Best American Lamp Oils”. An early enamel featuring a two horse drawn oil tank cart with two uniformed draymen. The background colour badly faded both sides but having mainly edge chipping only. 530x370mm. (21x14.5in).
94 “Midland Railway” Linesman’s brown leather Belt. The full title embossed on the fastening clasp around an embossed wyvern which is on the other clasp. Both parts are numbered “57”. v.g.c. Rare. 107 Cast iron Locomotive Shedplate “2C” (Warwick then Stourbridge). Face restored only a while ago.
95 BR(E) 3 aspect Handlamp. Top stamped and the body embossed “BR(E)”. Copper plate to body (LNER shape) “BR(E) Nottingham”. Complete with original vessel, burner, reflector and all glasses. v.g.c. and unrestored. 108 London & South Western Railway medium 20mm. nickel title & coat of arms Button as issued to members of the police department. This is the flatter earlier style of button. (F28/1). v.g.c.
96 “GNR” rosette Horsebrass (Hawthorne 37). v.g.c. complete with back loop. 109 As Previous Lot but small size 17mm. nickel Button in v.g.c.
97 “GNR” Horse Harness Decoration Brass. As Hawthorne 38 but squatter more chunky letter style. v.g.c. Fixing sprigs curtailed on back. 110 LNER cast iron Doorplate “Police Office”. Unrestored.
98 “Victoria Station Hotel Nottingham” silver plated Sauce Boat. This hotel adjoined the GC&GN Joint station it was often used in GCR publicity but never railway owned. This item is in v.g.c. with the title nicely face marked.
