45 Carriage Print “William Caxton Printing Press 1476” by Winslade from the LMR 1955 History Series. Two small edge nicks to bottom left corner. In an original glazed frame. 57 “L&NWR” cast brass Toilet Roll Holder back plate. The company initials embossed within two hands which would have held the wire holder.
46 Pair of Southern Railway ornate linen Seat Antimacassars with decorative crochet work and embroidered “SR” initials within a diamond outline. Very good clean condition. (2) 58 Cast aluminium “Mind the Gap” Carriage Door Threshold Plate. Unrestored 590mm. (23.2in) long.
47 North Staffordshire Rly. mahogany Office Chair clearly branded “NSR” in the seat back rail. A fine sturdy chair nicely re-upholstered and in v.g.c. 59 “L&NWR Co 168” oval cast iron Bridge Numberplate. Good unrestored condition. This is the pattern with conventional ampersand.
48 British Rail fully flanged enamel Station Sign “Finchley Road & Frognall”. Note this is enamelled not applied vinyl. A former LNWR West London station opened as Finchley Road St. Johns Wood in Feb. 1860. Renamed in Oct. 1880. v.g.c. 790mm. (31in.) long. 60 Pair of large cast iron Vehicle Wheel Hub Caps. Each incised “LMS W No. 4”. 115mm. dia. (4.5in). Nicely restored.
49 Great Northern Railway printed board Timetable Covers and Time Table for 1914 / 1915. Both timetables (210pp.) and board covers have the same design incorporating an Atlantic loco hauled train. v.g.c. 61 Two LNER official Publications: “Buckinghamshire The Chilterns” 36pp. and “Lincolnshire and the Dukeries” 26pp. Both in v.g.c. and complete with their folding maps. (2)
50 Great Northern Railway Timetable Covers only. Crimson cloth covered boards with gold embossed titling and company crest. Labels inside covers advertise the GNR’s services London to Scotland, hotels, restaurant cars and other facilities. v.g.c. 62 Great Eastern Rly. wax Handstamp. “GER” engraved brass head on a turned ebonised wooden handle. v.g.c.
51 Hull & Barnsley Railway cast iron “Shut this Gate” Notice from Howden. Face restored only. 63 Ornate brass One Shilling Market Check embossed “S. Alan Daniels GNR Kings Cross”. v.g.c. and rare.
52 “L&Y & L&NW” large 25mm. brass script initials Button (Froggatt plate 14 No. 15) v.g.c. 64 Cast iron Locomotive Shedplate “17B” (Burton on Trent). Face restored only. Burton shed had some 20 ‘Jubilee’ Class locos in its allocation in the early 1960’s.
53 “LMS Dining Car Services” large 24mm. nickel Button in v.g.c. (F22 / 10). 65 “Furness Abbey Hotel silver plated Dinner Fork by Waring & Gillow. The handle with edge decoration to both sides is crisply top marked with the title in a belted garter. A rare item from a scarce manufacturer in v.g.c. The Furness Abbey Hotel opened in 1845 and was leased to the Furness Railway Co. by the Earl of Burlington. It closed in March 1938 & was partly demolished. Waring & Gillow were based in Lancaster and specialised in ‘Arts & Crafts’ style furniture and furnishings.
54 SNCF double royal pictorial Poster “Chemins de Fer Francais Val de Loire”. Featuring unusual abstract artwork showing the town, river and hills beyond. Good condition with no folds. Rolled only. 66 Two “Railway Convalescent Homes” brass and enamel Lapel Badges. Both feature the full title, rampant horse and multi coloured shields; Badge no. 1 is the first issue with six shields (pre-1935); badge no. 2 is the 1954-64 issue with eight shields. both v.g.c. Froggatt plate 69.
55 Superb LNER glass Flower Vase. Trumpet shaped with a bulbous base. Nicely face marked with the etched intertwined “LNER” device. v.g.c. 227mm. (9in) tall. 67 LNER folding card Menu for Dinner aboard “The Coronation” the first streamlined train Kings Cross for Scotland” June 20th. 1939. Attractive quartered covers in red, blue and gold and featuring ‘A4’ 4489 “Dominion of Canada” to rear. A tad careworn but still impressive.
56 “NER Dining Car” matching silver plated Fish Knife and Fork of good quality by Elkington. Both pieces crisply top marked with the title in a belted garter. v.g.c. NER Dining Car tableware is a lot scarcer than that from the company’s hotels. 68 “GNR 1909 Christmas Excursions from London (Kings Cross) etc.” 24pp. fares and timetables booklet. v.g.c.
