23 8 pieces of GNR silver plated Cutlery: “Refreshment Rooms Peterboro” garter; “Hotel Leeds” garter; “Dining Club” (2); script initials (2); intertwined block monogram; full title. All v.g.c. 4 forks, 2 knives and 2 spoons. (8) 34 “LNER Loco. Dept. West Riding” oval brass Paychecks. Fully embossed and fully stamped examples (2).
24 Two rosette Horse Brasses: “MR Co” (Hawthorne 61) and “LMS” (H 85). Both v.g.c. and complete with back loops. (2) 35 L&NWR Fireplace Fender with coloured roses and foliage within circles and a geometric design around the top edge. Clearly embossed with the company initials on the front face. One of the best fenders we have seen. Unrestored. 770x380mm. (30.3x15in).
25 Southern Railway East Croydon Training School card Certificate for 1934 - 35 session awarded to E.A. Osmotherley for passing exams in accountancy. Very attractive and incorporates a picture of the “Lord Nelson” pioneer loco. v.g.c. 320x266mm. (12.6x10.5in) 36 Cast iron Axle Box Cover from the Welshpool & Llanfair Railway. Face embossed “W&L Ry. Co. Ld. Patent Axle Box Wood’s Patent 1904”. Fine condition and bolted to an oak mount 253x204mm. (10x8in) o/all. This light railway was opened in April 1903 and worked by the Cambrian Rly. It was grouped into the GWR, then BR and of course still runs today.
26 Scotrail double royal poster “The Highland Lines Isle of Skye” with artwork by Brendan Neiland R.A. This is the first of six such posters in this auction. v.g.c. rolled only and complete with information sheet on the artist. 37 GNR large 3 aspect Handlamp. Top and body stamped “GNR” and the body also “Aslokton”. Brass label “Great Northern Railway Company Aslockton No. 1” (somewhat wrinkled). Complete with vessel, burner, reflector and glasses (blue missing). v.g.c. devoid of paint. A station on the Nottingham - Grantham Line opened in July 1850.
27 GER / LNER circular steel Locomotive Headcode Disc with integral handle and lamp iron bracket. Reverse is plain white with small painted number “54”. 38 Victorian Souvenir china Teapot and lid made in Germany and bearing an illustration of the Forth Railway Bridge with applied gilt decoration. v.g.c.
28 GWR fully titled cast iron Sign “Notice all persons found trespassing on this railway will be prosecuted as the law directs”. Fine ex-lineside condition. 39 L&YR early style Luggage Labels: 8 are from Rainford Junction; “To Brockholes, Hipperholme, Low Moor” (blue type L21/1); “Bramley” (yellow L21/5); “Pimbo Lane, Lancaster” (blue / yellow & blue / white L21/3 & L21/2); “Freshfield, Ainsdale” (orange / white L21/4); plus 3 labels with same L&Y title, one “To Liverpool”, one blank and one to “Sandhills” (script) all on white paper. Good condition in the main. Code numbers are those given in the Railway Print Society “Pre-grouping Luggage Labels” book.
29 LNER fully titled folding card Menu for Luncheon at the Royal Station Hotel, York 23rd. July 1938. Etching by Cyril Barraud of York Minster to front cover, the hotel to the rear cover with historical info about York. Horizontal crease otherwise v.g.c. 40 “LNER Look-Out enamel Armband. Lacking straps but very good condition.
30 Pair of original Bolts & Nuts from a GWR ‘Hall’ Class loco Smokebox Number Plate. 41 “L.N.E. A.R.P. Electrician” printed waxed canvas Armband with original press stud fasteners. v.g.c. and scarce.
31 Small cast iron Makers Plate “E.C. Walton & Co. Muskham Works Newark”. Unpainted. 148x80mm. (5.8x3in). Waltons manufactured traction engine trailers. 42 “GWR Wagon Tyre” so stamped steel flange Template also stamped with other dimensional information and dated “8/12/43”. The reverse is stamped “Newton Abbot”, a scarce feature and referring to the workshops there.
32 “Great Northern Railway Loco Department” circular embossed brass Paycheck No. 617. v.g.c. 43 LNER “3” cast iron Mile Post Top. Two faces at 45 degrees. Face restored only a while ago. Would make a fine house number mounted on a post in your front garden!
33 “LM & SR MP Skipton 101” cir. embossed brass Paycheck. v.g.c. 44 M&GNJR (Midland pattern) Platform Wall Lamp Case. Copper topped and complete with “BR/M” vessel and all glass panels. v.g.c. Unrestored. 610mm. tall x 360mm. wide. (24x14in).
