289 Cast brass Locomotive Shedplate “52A” (Gateshead) as carried by a Class 46 Diesel Loco similar plates were fitted to the depot’s Deltics. Face restored and polished. 301 “Great Central Railway Company” Sherry Glass nicely face etched with the full company title and ‘Forward’ crest. A very delicate glass in lovely condition. 4.5in. tall.
290 Canadian National smaller size pictorial Poster “Travel the Jasper Way across Canada”. A stylish image of the steam hauled ‘Continental Limited’ in typically rugged scenery by E. Senecal. Company title with steam train to the base of the poster. v.g.c. and in a glazed frame but not stuck down. 31.3x21.25in. o/all. 302 GNR untitled small oval cast iron Bridge Numberplate “32”. These early serifed numeral plates were used on the Grantham - Nottingham line and the Grantham Canal which was owned by the GNR.
291 BR(E) flangeless enamel Station Doorplate “Enquiries”. Minor edge chips only. Superb deep colour and shine. 303 “GWR Hotels” copper Cooking Pot with the two side handles. v.g.c. and unrestored.
292 LYR 10in. mahogany drop cased Wall Clock. The ex-service dial with 24 hour numerals is written “B.R. 16804”. The good quality early fusee movement is set between brass plates with ornate corners & tapered turned pillars. The back box is deeply branded “L&Y” twice. Assumed in working order and complete with pendulum and “LYR” marked key. We understand that the clock was used at Gale Common Signal Box on the Knottingley - Womersley Line. 304 Carriage Print “Blakeney, Norfolk” by Acanthus from the ‘LNER’ 1948-55 Series. A colourful rendering of this popular North Norfolk spot. v.g.c. and in an original type glazed frame.
293 Enamel Advertising Sign “Smoke Blue Bell Tobacco Cool & Mellow”. Double sided with wall fixing flange. Light edge chipping mainly. Good colour and shine. 20x14in. 305 LNER & LMS quad royal photographic Poster advertising the book “The Glory of Scotland” by J.J. Bell. An unusual and dramatic image printed in shades of lilac and purple. References are made to LNER & LMS restaurant & sleeper car services. Folds only. v.g.c.
294 Enamel Advertising Sign “Wills’s Gold Flake Cigarettes Sold Here” with a pictorial cigarette packet. Some areas of edge corrosion. Chips mainly to edges. V. g. colour and shine. 36x24in. 306 Cast iron Locomotive Smokebox Numberplate “63444” as carried by Q6 Class 0-8-0 loco shedded at Blaydon for a number of years. It was w/d from Sunderland in 5/65 and cut up by M. Baum, Cleveland Dockyard, Middlesbrough two months later. The plate has had the numerals repainted and the back exhibits the 6’-6” rad. embossing and impressed details of other classes e.g. A3, A1, V2, A2/1 etc. See next lot.
295 “L & NE 1097” cast brass Dray Plate. v.g.c. and uncommon. 14x2.25in. 307 Cast brass ‘9x5’ Locomotive Works Numberplate “London & North Eastern Railway Armstrong Whitworth 1920” with brass strip “63444”. Original ground down no. “3444” still very legible. Cleaned to bare metal and lightly polished. Details as previous lot.
296 Rectangular cast iron Plate from a rail mounted War Department Crane. “The springs must be ‘chocked’ by relieving screws for all conditions except when jib is at 40’-0” radius and no load:- i.e. Long distance travelling or towing condition”. Casting number “73722.3” to back which has dribbles of original WD paint. Face restored only. 33x10in. 308 Double sided enamel Sign “Eastern Counties Omnibus Company Limited Agent for Express Parcels Service.” Both faces in v.g.c. with very good colour and shine. 18x17in.
297 Cast iron Locomotive Shedplate “9F” (Heaton Mersey). Face restored only a while ago. 309 A Coffee Table on four legs. The polished wooden top has a mounted British Railways lion, wheel & crown transfer as applied to locomotive tenders. Ideal for the railway room 52x25x19in. high.
298 “Season Tickets Must Be Shown Here” GWR enamel Sign by Wildman & Meguyer Birmingham. Small corner losses & 2 re-touched edge chips. V.g. colour and shine. 12x10in. 310 Cast iron Locomotive Shedplate “6E” (Wrexham, Chester West and Oswestry). Restored.
299 “Hull and Barnsley Railway Company” Coat of Arms Transfer nicely mounted onto a polished wooden board. v.g.c. 21.5x17in. 311 GCR 3 aspect rotating top Handlamp. The body is stamped “GCR 10228” and has a brass plate (with splits) “GCR 10228 New Basford”. Complete with “LNE-C” vessel, burner, reflector and all glasses including bullseye lens. A location on the GCR Main Line two stops out of Nottingham Victoria closed in Sept. 1964.
300 Etched brass Locomotive Equipment Plate “The English Electric Co. Ltd. London” followed by “Engine No., Type, Speed, Service Rating & Year of Manufacture 1962”. v.g.c. 6x3.5in. As carried by BR Co-Co Type 3 DE Loco No. D6951 later Class 37 No. 37251. 312 LNER Fitter’s Carbide Handlamp. Handle & body stamped “LNER”. Three brass plates to body “Premier Makers”, “Fill Level” and “London & North Eastern Railway Annesley Loco”. v.g.c. & complete. A depot north of Nottingham on the GCR coded 38B, 16D & 16B in steam days.
