Fully engraved Locomotive Builders Plate “London & North Eastern Railway Co. No. 1568 Doncaster 1923”. As carried by the ‘A1’ Class Pacific Loco No. 4476 “Royal Lancer”. Re-built 10/1946 as ‘A3’ Class and numbered 107. Becoming BR 60107 in 4/1948. A double chimney was fitted in 6/1959 and trough smoke deflectors in 2/1962. The loco was allocated to six different ‘Southern’ depots in its 40 year career notably Kings Cross, Leicester and Grantham, where it hauled named expresses on the GCR & GNR Main Lines including “The Flying Scotsman” when coupled with a corridor tender in 1928. The loco was withdrawn from Grantham in 9/1963 and cut up at Doncaster Works. A fine worksplate clearly stamped in the back “4476” (3 times) and “107” (twice) and a rare opportunity to acquire a L&NER ‘ampersand’ “A3”, one of only 10 such locos to carry this style of plate. 13.3x7.7in. The loco was named after the racehorse, owned by Lord Lonsdale, which won the 1922 St. Leger. |

In the late 50’s it was allocated to the Rugby Test Station for a couple of years before moving to the Western Region at Bristol Barrow Rd., Bath Green Park and Gloucester. It was w/d 9/65 and cut up by Cashmores, Newport in 12/65. |
