145 Chemin de Fer de L’Est double royal pictorial Poster. A superb crayon image by Besney illustrating the Verdun monument and victory in the Great War. Fine condition with no folds or tears and mounted on linen. 157 North Eastern Rly. Joiners steel Gouge with wooden handle. Used for boring out holes in carriage doors. An impressive tool 24in. long deeply marked “NER Co” twice and in v.g.c. Ex-York Carriage Works.
146 London & North Western Rly Signal Box Block Bell. Small ‘Dog Kennel’ pattern with skeletal frame clearly marked “L&NW No. 164”. v.g.c. and a lovely example. 158 “Midland Railway Attenboro Junction” original colour washed Signal Box Diagram. “MR Signal Works Derby” in corner and dated for the 22nd March 1901. Good condition and in its original glazed wooden frame 33x13in. o/all. A location on the Nottingham - Derby Line.
147 “LMS Hotels” frosted glass Tooth Pick Holder. Nicely face engraved with the title in a vertical panel and gilded. v.g.c. 3in. dia. 159 BR(W) double royal Posters “Diesel Trains improved services Cardiff Valleys Penarth - Barry - Bridgend Sept 1958 to June 1959”. Together with “Express Diesel Services Refreshment Facilities Birmingham (Snow Hill) - Newport - Cardiff - Swansea” with route map. Both posters have fine artwork images of three car D.M.U’S and are in excellent condition. (2).
148 Double sided enamel Direction Sign “To R.J. Matthews & Son’s Sand Pit”, with a wall fixing flange. Light edge chipping and small corrosion loss to top of flange but good colour & shine. 24.2x10in. 160 LNER 3 aspect Handlamp. The body embossed “LNER” has a brass plate “London & North Eastern Railway Grantham Pass”. Complete with vessel, burner, reflector and all glasses. Unrestored.
149 BR(E) fully flanged enamel Station Doorplate “Private”. Minor service scratches only. Fine deep colour and shine. 161 Carriage Print “Leigh-on-Sea, Essex” by Charles King. A very colourful image of boats on the beach from the ‘LNER’ 1953 Series. v.g.c. and in an original type glazed frame.
150 “Great Western Railway Hotels tapered glass Flower Vase with a heavy bulbous base. Nicely face etched with the full title scroll and company twin shields device. v.g.c. 8.3in. tall. 162 Midland Railway wooden cased Signal Box Block Switch. Clearly marked “MR Co” on top (twice) and dated 1913. The lock (with key) releases the hinged top and front flap which has two brass plates “Line Clear Cancel For Down Line Block When Closing” and a similar for “Up Line”. The internal switch box has a selector handle with pointer and three brass plates “Through / Open / Intermediate”. Brass hinges are marked “MR”. A fine instrument in very good ex-box condition. 16.5x9.25x5.6in. high.
151 LNER Office Stamp. The brass head engraved “LNER Northorpe” on a turned wooden handle. v.g.c. A former GCR station on the Gainsborough - Barnetby line closed in July 1955. 163 A Panel containing 22 Trafolite & ivorine Signal Box Instrument Plates etc. including “Oakham Crossing, Egleton, Manton Junction, Gretton, Wing Sidings, Manton East”. v.g.c.
152 LNER Office Stamp. The brass head engraved “LNER Blyton” on a turned wooden handle. v.g.c. Blyton for Corringham on the same line as previous lot closed in Feb. 1959. 164 Cast iron Locomotive Shedplate “5B” (Crewe South) with thin characters. Face restored only.
153 LNER Office Stamp. The brass head engraved “LNER Stainforth & H”. On a turned wooden handle. Very good condition. Stainforth & Hatfield was a former GCR station on the Doncaster - Barnetby line. 165 BR(E) fully flanged enamel Station Sign “Ticket Office”. A few face / flange chips but superb deep colour and shine. 48x12in.
154 Southern Rly. enamel Station Target Sign “Sunningdale”. Small chip to one screwhole otherwise very good ex-station condition with black grime to the edges, easily cleaned off if the successful bidder wishes. A former LSWR station between Virginia Water and Ascot originally opened in June 1856. It was re-named Sunningdale & Bagshot or Sunningdale & Windlesham in the 19th / Early 20th century, finally reverting back to the name on the target in December 1920. A very scarce target never before offered in a railwayana auction. 166 “Passengers must cross the line by the bridge” cast iron Notice thought to be Cheshire Lines Committee. Painted a long time ago in white on maroon. 36x19in.
155 Oval cast brass Locomotive Builders Plate “LMS Built 1890 Derby” with incised date. Face restored only 10x6in. as carried by ex-MR Class 1F 0-6-0T. with half cab, BR No. 41795. A Sheffield Grimethorpe loco at the end of its career it was w/d in 5/59 stored at Derby Works for one year and cut up by Looms of Spondon in 5/60. 167 A delightful “Pullman” silver plated half pint Teapot by “L&B”. Crisply face marked with the title in a vertical outlined panel. Lovely condition.
156 Great Southern & Western Rly. oval cast iron Wagon Plate “GSWR 7164 Inchicore Works”. Unrestored 12.5x6.7in. Scarce. 168 “LMS No. 9293 1935” cast iron Loco Tenderplate. Originally built for ‘Black 5’ No. (4)5189 built by Armstrong Whitworth. Later coupled to 44674 and withdrawn coupled to 45012 in 9/66 from Carlisle Canal. Cut up by Drapers, Hull in 3/67. Face restored only.
