386 Cast iron Locomotive Shedplate “75F” (Tunbridge Wells) a scarce code face restored only with “BR(S)” Eastleigh triangle to back. 398 Southern Railway Locomotive steel Head Code Disc. Complete with lamp iron bracket and carrying handle. restored.
387 “GWR Refreshment Dept. Swindon” aqua glass Beer Bottle. The titling embossed on the face. Very good clean condition except for a small chip to the base rim which is away from the text. 220mm. (8.7in) tall. 399 Great Western Railway cast iron “SW” (Sound Whistle) Notice. Restored but the detail not picked out. This example came from the lineside in Sonning Cutting a famous location for photographers past.
388 GWR cast iron Locomotive Cabside Numberplate “6140”. As carried by a ‘large prairie’ 2-6-2 Tank Loco built at Swindon in 1931. Later shed allocations were Slough, Reading, Taunton, Severn Tunnel Junction and Worcester. Withdrawn July 1964 and cut up by Birds of Morriston in Dec. 1964. The cabside is in v.g.c. Face restored only. See next lot. 400 BR Western Region double royal pictorial Poster “Aberystwyth” by Claude Buckle. A fine view of the town and sweeping coastline. Some tears, edge damage and small losses and mounted on card. A poster recovered from Daggons Road station on the West Moors - Salisbury Line.
389 Cast iron Locomotive Shedplate “86E” (Severn Tunnel Junction). Unrestored condition. “5262” is painted on the back which was a Class 42XX 2-8-0 Loco but the shedplate would of course be appropriate for 6140 in the previous lot. 401 Enamel Notice from a Railway Carriage “Please remain seated till train stops”. A long thin enamel and early we would assume. v.g.c. 458x25mm. (18x1in).
390 London Underground quad royal Poster “As the dove to the ark, so the artist to the passenger” by Philip Connard (1875 - 1958). Produced for the L.U. in 1930 and printed by the Baynard Press. A somewhat whimsical image of artists at their easels within a woodland scene with an angel and musical notes emanating from birds in the trees. No folds or damage but mounted on board, laminated and in an aluminium frame 1278x1025mm. (50x40in) overall. A scarce image. 402 LNWR 3 aspect Handlamp. Top stamped “L&NWR Carr. Dept. Wolverton”. Body stamped “LNWR Broad St. Goods A3443”. Complete with unmarked correct vessel (LNWR initials may be under a solder blob), burner, reflector, copper lens cone and all glasses. Restored a while ago.
391 Southern Railway enamel Signal Box Sign “Bournemouth West Junction” in two sections 1920x305mm. and 2060x305mm. (75.5x12in and 81x12in). Small chips only otherwise v.g.c. and mounted on wooden battens. 403 Scratch built all metal Model of a Great Western Railway Broad Gauge 0-6-0 Saddle Tank Locomotive and fitted with an electric motor. Very good standard of workmanship. unpainted finish. 457mm. (18in) long overall buffers.
392 South Eastern Railway Wax Seal. The brass head engraved “SER Accountant’s Department” on a turned wooden handle. A fine item in excellent condition. 122mm. long (4.8in). 404 Cast brass Locomotive Builders Plate “John Fowler & Co. (Leeds) Ltd. 4210132 - 1957” as carried by one of the company’s Type 421 Diesel Locos. Face restored, the back ex-loco. 479x88mm. (18.8x3.5in).
393 South Eastern and Chatham Railway Walkers Rotary Train Describer Signalling Instrument. Twelve small levers around a glazed needle dial with brass bezel with twelve circular trafolite description discs e.g. “North Kent, Main Line, Dartford Loop, B’Arms Branch, Cannon Street, Greenwich, Mid Kent etc.” v.g.c. 405 Two enamel Station Signs: SR “Gentlemen” bottom corner losses 760x305mm. (30x12in); BR(S) “Gentlemen” two face chips 760x303mm. (30x12in). Both have very good colour and shine. (2).
394 BR(W) fully flanged enamel Station Sign “Ticket Office”. Very light chipping only. Very good colour and shine. 1225x306mm. (48x12in). 406 Engraved brass Plate “Merryweather London” retaining most of the infill to letters and border. v.g.c. 340x36mm. (13.3x1.4in). From one of the company’s fire engines.
395 LBSCR 3 aspect Handlamp. Top and aspect drum stamped “LB&SCR” and brass plated “S[E]R”. Body stamped “LB&SCR” and “B271 Lavant”. It is also date stamped for Feb. 1881. Complete with SR Brighton vessel, BRS burner, SR reflector and all glasses. Restored. A location on the Chichester - Midhurst Line, Lavant opened in July 1881 and closed in July 1954. 407 Cast iron Locomotive Shedplate “6A” (Chester). Face restored only.
396 Cast gunmetal Single Line Key Token. The head engraved “Medstead - Alresford 10”. A section of former LSWR Mid Hants Railway opened in 1868 and closed in Feb. 1973. Later re-opened by the Mid Hants R.P.S. 408 BR(S) enamel and gilt “Station Master” Lion over Wheel Cap Badge in v.g.c.
