241 Cast iron Locomotive Shedplate “72E” (Barnstaple Junction). “BR(S)” Eastleigh triangle to back. A scarce code face restored only. Barnstaple shed also had outstationed locos at Ilfracombe and Torrington. 253 A framed and glazed print “On Time” by Philip Hawkins featuring a busy Birmingham Snow Hill station with a ‘King’ Class Loco arriving. The original painting was specially commissioned by the Birmingham Post & Mail Ltd. 870x637mm. (34.3x25in).
242 Pair of LSWR mahogany framed upholstered Office Chairs. Both are clearly impressed underneath “L&SWR”. Nicely re-upholstered in good quality fabric ready for your study or dining room. (2) 254 Cast iron Locomotive Shedplate “72B” (Salisbury). Face restored only a while ago.
243 BR(W) cast aluminium Single Line Key, the head engraved “St. Blazey Bridge - Goonbarrow Jcn.” Restored. 255 Enamel Advertising Sign “Idris Royal Mineral Waters Eight Gold Medals”. “Property of Idris & Co. Ld.” to top corners. Nicely re-touched enamel losses. Good colour and shine. Shield shaped. 495X425mm. (19.5x16.75in).
244 Southern Railway “Private” enamel Doorplate in its original wooden frame from Brentor Station on the former LSWR Line from Plymouth to Exeter via Okehampton. v.g.c. 256 MR / LMS pattern 4 aspect Handlamp from the S&D Joint Line. Door stamped “T.E. Bladon & Son Ld. 1937” and body brass plated “Templecombe”. Complete with “BRM” vessel, “BR” burner, reflector and all glasses. v.g.c.
245 An Album containing 200 postcard size and postcard Photographs of railway subjects covering Southern Railway and constituents, Great Western, Romney Hythe & Dymchurch and Midland & South Western Junction. Locos, stations, rolling stock and lineside views. Many annotated on reverse. Must be viewed. 257 SR double royal enamel Poster Board Header featuring “Southern” in sunshine style lettering. Re-touched minor chips and edge wear only. Good colour and shine. 657mm. (25.8in) long.
246 S&DJR small enamel Signal Instrument Description Plate “Chilcompton”. v.g.c. 258 Cast brass Locomotive Nameplate “Jane” as carried by Bagnall 0-4-0 Saddle Tank with outside cylinders (Works No. 1952) New in 1912 to Exhall Colliery and named “Exhall”. The loco was transferred to New Lount Colliery, Leicestershire where the Exhall letters were ground off and replaced with rivetted letters “Jane”. (The outline of Exhall still visible on the plate). The loco was scrapped on site in Dec. 1963. The nameplate is lightly face polished only. Retaining some ex-loco paint to the background and edges. The back is ex-loco. 755mm. (29.75in) long.
247 BR Perspex Sign “British Railways (in a totem) Please indicate your enquiries below”. On its original wooden backing board. 406x355mm. (16x14in). 259 Original London & South Western Railway Coat of Arms Transfer nicely mounted onto a painted wooden panel. v.g.c. 443x267mm. (17.5x10.5in).
248 GWR cast iron Sign “Bradpole Crossing Ground Frame”. Face restored only 1476x382mm. (58x15in). A Dorset location approx. half a mile north of Bridport station on the branch from Maiden Newton. The Bridport branch closed in May 1975. 260 Signal Box Train Register from Wimborne covering the period from 2nd. Nov. 1964 to 12th Nov. 1966 (the last day of operation). Interesting content and poignant last day comments.
249 BR(S) enamel and gilt “Ticket Collector” fishtail Cap Badge by Gaunt of London. These large radius badges are often prone to damage but this example is in fine condition. 261 BR(W) oak cased 8 inch spring wound Wall Clock by Smiths. The original service dial bears 24 hour numerals and an inset seconds dial. Ivorine plate “BR-W 5923” to side of back box. This clock was in use at Twyford West Signal Box and is marked so on the back of the dial. A scarce clock in working order complete with key.
250 GNR large 3 aspect Handlamp. Top and body with matching stampings “GNR 5293”. Complete with integral vessel, burner, reflector, copper lens cone and all glasses. A fine lamp which has never been fitted with a location plate. 262 LSWR cast iron Arch Number Plate embossed “L&SW 197”. The ‘S’ drilled out to accomodate the bottom fixing hole. Unrestored and fairly scarce.
251 A framed and glazed limited edition Print “Port Line” by Terence Cuneo. Numbered 256 of 850 the print has been personally signed by the artist. 736x584mm. (29x23in). 263 Carriage Print “The Cinque Port of Sandwich, Kent” by Jack Merriott, from the Southern Region Series issued in 1952. This is the large format print and the fourth of the set of five in our sale today. v.g.c. and in an original type glazed frame. See also lot nos. 7, 151, 176 and 374.
252 A framed and glazed Print “Nine Elms - The last hours” by David Shepherd. The print has been personally signed by the artist. 863x457mm. (34x18in). 264 S&DJR cast iron Firebuckets Notice. A fine example in totally original condition.
