121 Box of Miscellaneous official Railway Booklets, paperwork, etc. Some interesting items in this lot. Must be viewed. 133 BR(M) enamel mini Totem from atop a notice board at Manchester Central Station. One small re-touched chip to bottom edge. A nice item in the reverse colours of maroon on white. 415mm. (16.3in) long.
122 Oval cast brass Locomotive Builders Plate “Yorkshire Engine Co. Limited No. 2466 Meadow-Hall Works 1951 Sheffield” as carried by (GWR) 94XX Class 0-6-0 Pannier Tank in the number range 8467-75. The plate has been lightly cleaned and face polished only. 281x153mm. (11x6in) 134 Enamel Advertising Sign “The Crown Stout. Nourishing specially recommended for invalids etc.” Some chipping mainly to edges. A nice early enamel with good colour and shine. 610x456mm. (24x18in).
123 Southern Railway enamel Station Target Sign “Bickley”. Three re-touched chips and minor nibbles to radii. The white has gone a tad grainy as targets often do but the sign retains good shine. A former S.E.R. station between Orpington and Bromley opened as Southborough Road in July 1858, re-named Bickley in Oct. 1860. 135 GWR fully titled cast iron ‘short’ Trespass Notice “As the law directs” etc. Face restored only.
124 Box of Railway Books. All hardbacked GWR interest. Good condition throughout. (18). 136 Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Uniform Button. Large 24.5mm. nickel silver “L&BR” script example in v.g.c. Froggatt ref. 33/9.
125 “British Railways - Southern Region Oakley Crossing” Track & Signal Diagram and Table of Mechanical Locking. A location between Broadstone and Wimborne. Official BR(S) S&T Dept. stamp to corner dated Dec. 1965. In a glazed frame 635x436mm. (25x17in) overall. 137 Model of Brunel’s Great Steamship the S.S. “Great Britain” constructed to a scale of approx. 1/ 50th full size. The model portrays the vessel as originally built in 1843 for the Great Western Steamship Company. Some repair work is necessary to some of the spars, masts and rigging but should be a very worthwhile project for someone. 74in. overall length stem to stern so very impressive. The model is accompanied by a framed lithograph of the original vessel and a book “The Great Britain” by K.T. Rowland. (3)
126 Southern Railway enamel Sign “Change for Swanage”. 2130x303mm. (84x12in). Ex Wareham station. These signs were located underneath the station running in boards. 138 Cast iron Locomotive Shedplate “52A” (Gateshead). Face restored only.
127 Cast iron Wagon ‘D’ Plate “B743850 13T Swindon 1960 Lot No 3296”. Unrestored. From a Cornish China Clay Wagon. 139 GWR official Jigsaw “Historic Totnes” from a painting by Claude Buckle looking up the main street in this Devon town, Complete and in v.g.c. and with its original box also in good order.
128 SR cast iron Lever Plate from Corfe Mullen Signal Box on the S&DJR. Original paintwork “17 to Corfe Mullen Points”. 140 S&DJR small enamel Repeater Description Plate “Braysdown Up Distant”. v.g.c. A location between Radstock and Shoscombe.
129 “Shunting Bell” enamel Notice. v.g.c. and incorporating a small round hole through which would show a light when in service. 355x253mm. (14x10in). 141 Permanent Way Sleeper Lifting Tool comprising a turned wooden shaft with a pair of hanging iron claws with barbed ends. This appliance was used at March P. Way Dept. but could have been equally at home on the battlefield at Agincourt! v.g.c. and 1340mm. (52.75in) long.
130 London Transport 4 aspect Handlamp. It features a brass slide and ‘ticket’ to the body side which is stamped “ERN 120”. This stamping is repeated on the back handle and stands for “Electric Railway Neasden”. Complete with copper vessel, burner, reflector and all glasses. Unrestored with remains of original red paint. 142 Southern Railway enamel Station Target Sign “Vauxhall”. Re-touched edge chipping and a tad ‘flat’ but this is a decent example as others can be rather poor in condition. The target is mounted on a backing board. A former LSWR station opened as Vauxhall Bridge in July 1848. Re-named Vauxhall in 1862.
131 GWR official Jigsaw Puzzle “The Railway Station” featuring the well known image of a busy Victorian Paddington by Frith. The original painting is on display in the National Railway Museum in York. Complete and in very good condition with its box also in good order. 143 South Western Railway wool Blanket bearing “SWR” in intertwined script initials in the centre. Possibly used on one of the Cross Channel Steamers.
132 Southern Railway “2” cast iron Bridge Numberplate. Face restored only. 144 Cast brass Locomotive Nameplate “George Stephenson” as carried by a Hawthorn Leslie 0-4-0 Saddle Tank with outside cylinders (Works No. 3580 of 1924) which worked at Lount Colliery, Leicestershire. The loco was scrapped on site in May 1964. A fine impressive nameplate lightly cleaned and face polished only. The ex-loco back being tapered to fit the shape of the saddle tank. 1435mm. (56.5in) long.
