97 A fine colour washed official Drawing of Templecombe station showing the new Southern Railway corporate image buildings circa 1930. Loss to lower right corner not affecting any detail together with an original pencil drawing of a number takers building also at Templecombe. (2) 109 LNWR pattern mahogany cased Signal Box Block Switch. Nickel switch with “Open / Closed” trafolite plates. Damage to front of baseboard otherwise good condition.
98 Belfast and County Down Railway cast metal Locomotive Numberplate “BCDR 5”. As carried by a 2-4-2 tank loco built by Beyer Peacock in 1896 (Works No. 3854). New to Traffic July 1896. Became Ulster Transport Authority No. 5 in 1948. Withdrawn Nov. 1949 and sold for scrap. No. 5 was a 5’-3” gauge type 8 Class 5 locomotive and was one of only 6 in the class. They were employed on Belfast - Holywood and Belfast - Dundonald suburban services. Nos. 5, 7 & 27 survived to the formation of the UTA but the other class members Nos. 8, 28 & 29 (all built in 1897) were withdrawn in 1925, 1937 & 1923 respectively. Originally the locos had oval brass numberplates but were changed to the style we have here about 1920. This plate although fractured in two is in totally ex-loco condition and a considerable rarity as many BCDR plates were replaced with UTA cast aluminium examples. The right rear edge has been notched presumably to clear tankside rivet heads. 383x252mm. (15x10in). 110 Aluminium Single Line Key. The head engraved “Wadebridge East - St. Kew Highway”. Stamped “Not in Use” in the back. v.g.c. with substantial remains of original red paint. The penultimate section of the long meandering former LSWR line from Halwill Jct. to Padstow. Closed in Jan 1967.
99 GWR cast brass Locomotive Cabside Numberplate “6913” as carried by ‘4900’ Hall Class 4-6-0 “Levens Hall”. The loco was Swindon built and its later shed allocations were Laira, Reading and Gloucester. Withdrawal came in June 1964 to be cut up by Birds of Morriston, Swansea in Dec 1964. The cabside is totally unrestored, having been in a previous owners garden for about 40 years until being purchased by our vendor. 111 Great Eastern Rly. rosette Horsebrass with original black wax infill to “GER” lettering.
