This was the first ‘Black 5’ to work on the Somerset and Dorset Line and remained there until 1958, being photographed many times particularly by Ivo Peters. The plate is face restored only, the characters and rim being partly cleaned and lightly polished. “45440” is painted on the back. |

C.E. to the drivers and firemen of the L&SW Rly. Co. to be used at their meetings”. The gavel head bears an image of Washington’s home. The box is velvet lined. A truly historic item. Dugald Drummond was C.M.E. of the LSWR from 1895-1912. |
