25 Somerset & Dorset Railway four hole cast iron Railchair. Embossed “S&D 39” and “HW & Co. 1883”. Restored a while ago. 37 Southern Railway Station enamel Running In Board “Shillingstone” from the former S&DJR station between Templecombe and Blandford. Opened in Aug. 1863, closure came in March 1966. The station which survived reasonably intact even into recent times is now undergoing full restoration. The sign is in very good condition with light edge chipping and good colour and shine. 2955x410mm. (116x16in).
26 GWR official Jigsaw Puzzle “King George V”. Approx. 200 pieces complete with orange slip box with Chad Valley packing slip. Puzzle v.g.c., box fair. 38 LNER and LMS Joint quad royal pictorial Poster “Explore Scotland its quicker by rail”. Featuring an aerial view of the country showing principal towns, rail lines and other information by Montague B. Black. Folds and small edge losses otherwise good condition.
27 Enamel Advertising Sign “Westward Ho Smoking Mixture”. Edge wear only. Very good colour and shine. 912x230mm. (36x9in). 39 The Liverpool Overhead Electric Railway double royal pictorial Poster overprinted across the top “Great Southern & Western Railway” features glorious vignettes of scenes along the line which opened in March 1893. The Irish GS&WR became part of the Great Southern Railway in 1924. A stunning poster dating from the early years of the L.O.R. In fine condition with no folds.
28 Pair of LNWR oval cast iron Bridge Number Plates with suffix letters “21C” and “21D”. Both face restored only. (2) 40 L&SWR cast iron Milepost Tablet “42” by McKenzie & Holland of Worcester. These company initialled mileposts were exclusive to the S&DJR and this example came from just south of Stalbridge station. Face restored only.
29 Central London Railway 3 aspect Handlamp with copper cap. Steel plated to reducing cone “Morden 33”. Body has a brass slide into which would be inserted a brass location plate. Complete with copper vessel, burner, reflector and all glasses. Restored. 41 Southern Railway double sided enamel Platform Sign “Waiting & Ladies Rooms”. In its original wooden frame with scrolled iron wall bracket. very good condition throughout.
30 LSWR cast brass Signal Box Lever Plate “5 Gate Lock”. From the Canford Bottom Crossing Box between Wimborne and West Moors on the old line between Brockenhurst and Hamworthy Junctions. Restored. 42 “LB & SCR Loco Dept.” original Driver’s copper Cap Badge with hollow back and featuring the company’s 0-4-4 tank loco “Goldsmid”. v.g.c. and complete with original brass slide to rear. Note that the reproductions of this badge are thinner with flat backs.
31 Document or Cash Bag metal Label “Barnstaple Town”. Still rivetted to its leather mount. Ex service condition. A former LSWR station and junction for the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway. Formerly opened as Barnstaple Quay in July 1874, it became Town on a new site in July 1886. Closure came in October 1970. 43 LB & SCR 4 aspect Handlamp. The body bears a large oval brass plate “London Brighton & South Coast Railway Company”. Top and body have matching stampings “LB & SCR London B. 1012” (i.e. London Bridge). The top also has a brass Brighton “B” disc. Complete with original “LB&SCR” vessel, BR(S) burner, reflector and all glasses. Restored. Original ‘Brighton’ vessels are incredibly rare.
32 Oval cast iron Locomotive Shedplate “75A” (Brighton). Face restored only a while ago. “BR(S)” Eastleigh triangle to the ex-loco back. 44 Carriage Print “Southwold, Suffolk” by F.W. Baldwin. From the 1948-55 Eastern Region series. A fine view of the beach and promenade with its beach huts and Victorian buildings largely unchanged today. A scarce print with two small tape stains to edges and in an original type glazed frame.
33 Midland Railway Loco Driver’s long pump action Oiler from Templecombe. Clearly stamped “MR Co”, one can only speculate on the dozens of S&DJR locos which must have been oiled with this over the years. v.g.c. and 930mm. long. (36.6in). 45 BR(S) cast iron two piece Signal Finial perpetuating the earlier SR and LSWR patterns. This example embossed “BR(S) WB&SS Co. Ld” with pattern numbers. (Westinghouse Brake & Sykes Signal Co. Ltd.) Crack to one wing but sound. Ex post condition. 635mm. (25in) tall.
34 SR enamel Station Target Sign “Redbridge”. From the former LSWR station west of Southampton opened in June 1847. Re-touched edge wear only. Very good colour and shine and on a backing board. 46 Pair of Southern Region Doorplates: “Goods Office”, enamelled on aluminium and “Lamps” painted on aluminium sheet. Both v.g.c. and ex-door condition. (2).
35 Southern Railway official works Photograph of ‘Lord Nelson’ Class Locomotive No. 850. Depicted in as built condition in fully lined workshop grey livery. In a glazed frame with card sub-mount. 495x382mm. overall. (19.5x15in). 47 “Southern Railway” Marine Dept. Official brass Ashtray featuring the embossed company title in sunshine lettering. The panel bearing the “SR” house flag is somewhat worn.
36 Set of four St. Johns Ambulance Association Medals on ribbons all inscribed to James Tooke. A stunning silver LSWR example inscribed “Wimbledon A 1921”, followed by Southern Railway examples in bronze (1925 with 7 year bar), silver (1931 with 14 year bar) and gold (1938 with 21 year bar). All in very good condition and in their presentation boxes. A fine collection. 48 An interesting pair of Photographs depicting S&DJR 7F Locomotive No. 53807. The first shows the loco with the driver Dave Massey and Fireman Bev. Reynolds at Evercreech Junction on its final run from Bath. The second photo shows the same two gentlemen 25 years later at Minehead in front of preserved 53808 disguised as 53807 and adopting the same pose! In a glazed frame 434x164mm. (17x6.5in). Signed by the crew.
