70 BR Eastern Region Auction Catalogue for the sale at Scunthorpe 16th. Jan. 1971 of railway relics from stations in east Lincs. 408 lots including many totems. How about Mablethorpe, Alford Town and Sutton on Sea in one lot! Fantastic reading, don’t miss it. v.g.c. 81 BR(M) quad royal (cut down) pictorial Poster “The Mersey at Liverpool by Norman Wilkinson published in 1948. A stunning piece of artwork with the famous Liver building in the background. The poster has had the bottom section removed which was fairly plain containing only a central “British Railways” totem and the printing details. A fine image on its own in good cond. Folds and a few edge nicks.
71 Fourteen GNR Handbills for excursion trips from Lincolnshire stations. Some duplication. Fair to good condition. (14). 82 “Boston” station plastic fluorescent Platform Lamp Cover. Repaired crack to rear face so does not show on the lettering side. Ideal for garage or workshop. 1415mm. (55.7in) long.
72 “GNR The St. John Ambulance Brigade” two piece nickel Arm Badge in superb condition and complete with rear sliding pin. 83 BR(S) enamel and nickel “Porter” totem Cap Badge by Gaunt. One very tiny chip to face otherwise v.g.c.
73 GNR large 3 aspect Handlamp. Top has large brass makers label “T.Knight & Co. Highgate Works Leopold St. Birmingham” and top stamped “GNR 5347”. Body stamped “GNR 2921” and has brass label “Great Northern Railway Company Yard Box Grantham 4”. Complete with “GNR” vessel, burner, reflector and all glasses. v.g.c. and restored. Many classic photos exist showing this signal box at the south end of the up platform with Pacific locos standing alongside. 84 Great Northern Railway original Coat of Arms Transfer mounted onto a stained ply panel. This is the elaborate three piece full heraldic device and is very impressive. v.g.c. 725x568mm. (28.5x22.4in).
74 Cast iron Locomotive Shedplate “84E” (Tyseley then Wadebridge). Face restored only. 85 Two colour washed linen Drawings titled “NER Hull & Scarbro Branch Hutton Cranswick Station Master’s House” dated 1887. Both have damp damage along bottom edges. (2).
75 London Passenger Transport Board Permanent Way Man’s brass Warning Horn. Clearly stamped “LPTB”. v.g.c. & working. 86 Track Diagram in ink on linen titled “LNER (Southern Area) Oulton Broad North Station. Diagram of Sykes lock & block controls”. Includes Oulton Broads Swing Bridge Sig. Box and Coke Ovens Jct. Sig Box and elevational drawing of block instrument shelves. Nice item for the signalling boys. Dated 1928. 1280x470mm. (50x18.5in).
76 GCR Guide Bridge Refreshment Rooms silver plated Coffee Spoon. Clearly top marked “G.C.R. GB” on the handle. v.g.c. and scarce. 87 North Eastern Rly. enamel and brass First World War Service Badge in v.g.c.
77 Brass Locomotive Whistle from a Class 08 0-6-0 Diesel Electric Shunter. v.g.c. 88 Oak cased Signal Box wall mounted Telephone with copper bell and black bakelite handset and push button. Ivorine plate to face “Listen before ringing code”. From a box in the Boston area. v.g.c.
78 LNER, Great Eastern pattern 3 aspect Sliding Knob Handlamp. Top stamped “LNE-E Cambridge”. Body date coded for 1933. Complete with correct “BR-E” vessel, burner, reflector, copper lens cone and all glasses (hairline crack to blue). Back handle removed. Restored. 89 “GNR Look-Out” enamel Arm Band. Straps present but worn. Buckle missing. Enamel with service scuffs but good.
79 Carriage Print “Beaumaris, Anglesey” by David Cobb from the LMR 1952 Series. Yachts & dinghies by the pier & a steamer on the choppy water. Minor scuffs to top border. In an original type glazed frame. 90 LNER silver plated Sugar Shaker by Gladwin of Sheffield ‘Embassy’ plate. Clearly marked on face with the “LNER” script initials. Superb condition, one of the best we have seen.
80 Cast iron Locomotive Shedplate “31B” (March). This large depot always had several ‘Sandringhams’ and ‘Britannias’ Class locomotives amongst its allocation. The characters are in red paint so perhaps it is from something exotic! Totally ex-loco condition. 91 A very fine and delicate matching silver plated Hors D’Ouvres Knife and Fork for a fish course. Both pieces have nice ribbed handles and are clearly marked “LM&S Euston 5244” and are dated for March 1923. Superb condition.
