Great Western Railway one pint pewter Tankard manufactured by James Yates of Birmingham circa 1860-1881. Very nicely face marked “Pint GWR RD” in early style. The tankard bears the maker’s name and other markings including the verification stamp “VR149” which is either Northampton 1879-90 or more likely Plymouth 1892. Tankards were often not stamped when new but when the excise men got round to it! A very scarce piece in very good condition. |

Three woven silk pictures (Stevengraphs) presented in a glazed frame and titled “A travel contrast of two reigns”. The first is sub-titled “George IV Manchester to London in 20 1/4 hours by Mail Coach”. The third is sub-titled “George V Manchester to London 3 1/2 hours by L&NWRy”. (A Claughton hauled Express). In between is an image of George Stephenson with his Locomotion and Rocket locomotives. v.g.c. but the frame has face damage at the right hand side. 592x212mm. overall (23.3x8.3in). |

The body is stamped “L&NER 10035” and brass plated “London & North Eastern Railway Netherfield & Colwick”. Complete with “L&NER” vessel, burner, reflector, copper lens cone and all glasses. Restored a while ago. |

BR(M) oak cased 8in (200mm) Wall Clock of circa 1950 with a Smiths going barrel movement with platform lever escapement within rectangular brass plates. The dial is written “BR(M) 18162 Smiths Empire”. Clock records show that this clock was located in the Booking Office of Uppingham station and is in fully overhauled working order complete with key. Uppingham the terminus of a short branch from Seaton Junction closed in May 1964. |
