Midland Railway mahogany cased Signal Box Block Instrument with unusual pegging handle. Woodwork stamped “MR Co” and “LMS”. The description plate is somewhat distressed but the needle dial retains its “Midland Railway” scroll over a wyvern. The instrument came from the south west and is reputedly from the S&DJR Line. |

A magnificant LNWR brass cased Marine Clock from the company’s steam ship “Scotia”. The 8 in silvered dial is engraved “Dobbie M’Innes Ltd. Glasgow LNWR” with Roman numerals and inset seconds dial. The wall flange is clearly stamped “Scotia” and the back panel is scratched in script “Third Class Saloon”. The clock has a bevelled edged glass set in a cast brass bezel and is in full working order complete with key. A stunning timepiece. The S.S. “Scotia” with her sister ship “Cambria” were the last two ships built for the LNWR in 1921. She was a twin screw turbine steamer built by W. Denny & Bros. of Dumbarton and was used on the Holyhead - Kingstown Mail Service. The vessel cost £394,186 to build, was 395 feet long, carried 1400 passengers and weighed 3,440 tons gross. Her port of registration was Dublin and her official number was 144978. We do not have details of her disposal. |

As carried by Co-Co Type Diesel Electric Loco No. D6949 new in 12/64 to Ebbw Jct. Became Class 37/0 No. 37249 then reclassified 37/9 to No. 37903. One of four locos fitted with Mirrlees Engine and Brush Alternator. Now withdrawn and cut up. The plate is in fine condition retaining most plating and with ex-loco back. 258x116mm. (10.1x4.6in). |
