Opened as The Victoria Hotel in 1867 it was purchased by the GNR in 1892. It was sold off in April 1952 and is still open. Items from here are hard to find. |

LNER (Great Eastern pattern) ‘Dead Stock’ Stop Lamp. Features a lamp stamped “LNE-E” with twin red bullseye lenses and a vessel with integral plate with lamp bracket and carrying handle painted “S. Cundy Fitter Stop”. Very good original condition. 600mm. (23.6in) long. These lamps were displayed on locomotives at depots to inform others that they were receiving attention from the fitter. |
