LNER cast iron ‘9x5’ Locomotive Works Number Plate “London & North Eastern Railway Gateshead Works 1904” with brass re-numbering strip “65761”. As carried by NER P2 Class 0-6-0 tender loco no. 406. It became LNER Class J26 no. 5761 in Nov. 1946 and BR 65761 in Oct. 1948. At the grouping the loco was shedded at Ferryhill. Its BR sheds were Newport and Thornaby. Withdrawal came in June 1962 to be cut up at Darlington. |

Complete with original “LNWR” vessel, “LMS” burner, reflector, copper lens cone, “LNWR” rear trigger and all glasses. A fine lamp indeed devoid of paint. A Shrewsbury and Hereford Joint Line location. The station here opened in Dec. 1853 and was renamed Hereford in 1893. |
